AI search for e-commerce

Your customers ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews which store to buy from. This work makes sure your store is part of the answer, and described correctly.

What it is

AI answers name only a few brands per question. If your store is not one of them, a competitor is.

Whether an AI answer mentions you depends partly on your own site: clear structure, direct answers and schema that AI systems can read. But much of it happens elsewhere. Reviews, comparisons, articles and mentions on sites that AI tools trust decide which brands they recommend.

Katarina developed Feed the Machine, her framework for building these external brand signals, while leading R&D in off-page SEO and AI visibility at WhitePress.

What the work covers

  • AI visibility baseline

Which buyer questions mention your store, which mention competitors, and what AI tools say about your brand.

  • Feed the Machine

The external sources AI systems trust in your category, and a plan to get your brand into them.

  • Brand mentions

Mentions on relevant sites in each market, and fixes for weak or wrong descriptions of your brand.

  • Content AI can cite

Category pages, guides and product information structured so AI tools can parse and quote them.

  • One consistent brand story

The same facts about your store across your site, profiles, listings and marketplaces.

  • Citation tracking

Monthly tracking of where your store is mentioned, so you can see the change over time.

Who it is for

  • Stores that rank well on Google but are missing from AI answers
  • Brands that AI tools describe wrongly or confuse with someone else
  • Marketing teams that need a plan for AI search, not just a report about it

What you get

  • An AI visibility baseline across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews
  • A Feed the Machine plan with target sources and priorities
  • On-site fixes for structure, schema and content
  • Brand mention work in your markets
  • Monthly citation tracking and reporting

Questions and answers

What is the difference between SEO and AI search optimisation?

SEO gets your pages ranked in Google’s results. AI search optimisation gets your brand mentioned in the answers AI tools write. They overlap, since AI tools often build answers from pages that already rank. But AI answers also rely heavily on what other sites say about you.

Can you guarantee that ChatGPT will recommend our store?

No one can. AI answers change from one question to the next. What we can do is measure where you appear today, build the signals AI systems rely on, and show you the change over time.

Do we still need regular SEO?

Yes. Many AI tools search the web before they answer, and pages that rank well are more likely to be used as sources. AI search work gives the best results on top of solid SEO.

How do you measure AI visibility?

By testing a fixed set of buyer questions across AI tools every month and tracking which brands and sources they mention. You see your share of mentions next to your competitors.
